At ALBA - Taxes in Portugal, LDA, we specialize in providing expert Portuguese tax advice to expats and international clients. With years of experience navigating Portugal’s tax system and double taxation treatments, our team offers personalized solutions to ensure compliance, efficiency, and peace of mind for our clients.
Founded in 2021, ALBA was established when Bruno and Anne combined their expertise after working independently as self-employed professionals.
Many of our clients are from the US, UK, and Europe, but we are pleased to assist clients from anywhere in the world.
We take pride in being able to respond to client inquiries promptly. While we understand that timely communication can sometimes be challenging, we aim to reply to emails within 48 hours.

Bruno Afonso
Non-Resident & Expats’ Tax Advisor in Portugal | Co-Founder
With over 15 years of experience in the Portuguese tax system, Bruno, a native Portuguese, specializes in advising expats and foreign residents on navigating complex tax regimes, such as the Non-Habitual Resident (NHR) program. Known for his expertise in cross-border taxation, Bruno is dedicated to providing tailored solutions to meet the needs of each client. He loves meeting people and is highly regarded for his excellent rapport with clients, ensuring they feel supported and confident throughout the process.
Fluent in both Portuguese and English.
Anne Loehmer
Portugal Tax Consultant for Foreigners | Co-Founder
Anne began her career as a Finance and Payroll Accountant in Germany. After relocating to Portugal in 2017, she expanded her knowledge to include Portuguese tax laws and now specializes in providing expert support to expats and international clients. Anne is highly experienced in assisting clients with a wide range of tax filings and compliance matters, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish. Drawing from her own personal experience, she also offers valuable insights and practical tips to help clients adapt to life in Portugal.
Fluent in both German and English, she is currently mastering Portuguese

Pedro joined ALBA in November 2022 and primarily works with our freelance clients, acting as their direct point of contact. While continuously expanding his knowledge through his studies, he provides expert guidance to help freelancers navigate Portugal’s tax system. Known for his personalized approach and attention to detail, Pedro is dedicated to ensuring that each client receives tailored solutions and the support they need to meet their tax obligations.
